Northview High School is dedicated to serving a diverse community and promoting achievement and independence for all. We provide special education services to students from Hazelwood, Ferguson-Florissant, Riverview Gardens, and Jennings school districts in an effort to assist students with becoming independent and responsible citizens, maximizing their potential for a fulfilling and successful life.

Mashonda Behling, special education director for the Riverview Gardens School District, was honored with an Apple for the Teacher Award by Iota Phi Lambda - Alpha Zeta Chapter on Nov. 22.

Three SSD educators were celebrated by the Charles E. Fleming Legacy foundation at the Chase Park Plaza Hotel on Dec. 7. The event recognized the contributions of dedicated educators from across the St. Louis metropolitan area, as well as pillars in the business community and civic champions.

At the Nov. 11 meeting, the Board of Education recognized members of St. Louis ARC, an organization that empowers people with intellectual and developmental disabilities and their families to lead better lives by providing a lifetime of high-quality services, family support and advocacy.

Northview High School was filled with Halloween-themed activities, crafts, and games for its annual fall festival.

Southview and Northview classrooms were introduced to the world of opera with the Opera Theatre of St. Louis’ Opera on the Go.

Two staff members in SSD recently had their proposals funded by DonorsChoose, a nonprofit organization that allows teachers to conduct an online fundraiser to purchase classroom resources.

Jim Walsh (right in photo), an SSD interpreter who works at Parkway West High School, was recently presented with the 2026 Edward and Esther Haywood Caring Educator Award by the Charles E. Fleming Legacy Foundation. The foundation gives the award each year to an educator in the St. Louis area who has demonstrated exceptional care and love for students, parents, colleagues and the education/professional community.

The SSD Board of Education approved the 2025-26 tax rate of $0.8993 by a 6-0 vote at the Sept. 23 Board meeting. Calendar year 2025 is a reassessment year, and the District’s total assessed valuation (after Tax Increment Financing adjustments) increased to $33,433,320,477. This represents an average increase of 11.08% across residential, commercial, agricultural, and personal property. New construction contributed $252.6 million in additional assessed valuation.
